Orquesta de Plectro ‘El Micalet’
The Orquesta de Plectro El Micalet de Llíria was founded in 1956 by Manuel Gómez Martínez. In 2006 it celebrated its 50th anniversary, with a concert featuring exclusive works composed by maestros José Mª García, Jesús Muñoz, David Francés, Adam Ferrero and Rafael Talens, with the collaboration of the Choir of the Valencia Municipal Conservatory José Iturbi.
Since its creation it has been giving concerts all over Spain, having also performed in Portugal, France, Switzerland and Germany, etc… It was chosen in 1967 to intervene in the tribute to Maestro Granados held in Madrid, performing under the direction of Maestro Haffter, and in 1973 it was selected to intervene in the tribute to Maestro Serrano held in the same city, and in 1989 it was invited to perform a concert in Paris on the occasion of the 750th anniversary of the Reconquest of Valencia.
It has taken part, among others, in the V and VIII International Music Festivals in Mahon (Menorca) and in the XVII Europeade Festival held in Schawalmstadt (Germany). The orchestra has performed on several occasions at the Palau de la Música de València, and at the Palau de les Arts Reina Sofía. It has been awarded the Medal of Honour for Merit in Fine Arts by the Royal Academy of San Carlos
