The Municipal Symphonic Band of Madrid visits Llíria

They will offer a concert this Sunday, July 3 at the Teatro de la Primitiva

The Municipal Symphonic Band of Madrid (BSMM) will perform this coming Sunday, July 3, at 8:00 p.m. at the Banda Primitiva de Llíria theater, within the cultural agenda organized by the Department of Music of the City Council of the town. The concert is part of the tour that the group is carrying out in Valencian lands and in which they will also visit the towns of Cullera, Buñol and Villena.

The BSSM, directed by maestro Jan Cober, and with soloists Miguel Civera and Arno Piters, will perform a varied repertoire with works by Strauss, José Alamá, Stravinsky, Falla, Chapí, Chueca and Torroba.

Since its formation on June 2, 1909, the Madrid Municipal Symphony Band has become a reference musical group throughout the world thanks to the unique formation devised by its first director, maestro Ricardo Villa, which includes low strings with cellos and double basses, as well as the harp and the entire families of woodwind, brass and percussion instruments. With this criterion, the sound set, in addition to being complete and balanced, offers great expressive and timbral possibilities.

Today, the BSSM is led by maestro Jan Cober, considered the most prominent figure in the field of brass band conducting. As a clarinet teacher and director of brass bands, Jan Cober combines his professional career with musical research at the Maastricht Superior Conservatory and the European Institute of Conducting in Trento (Italy). His particular methodology and didactics have created a recognized school that teaches management courses in more than fifteen countries.

Mayor Joanma Miguel stated that “it is a source of pride to be able to count on the presence of the Municipal Symphonic Band of Madrid in our city, a highly prestigious formation, and that it comes to continue the cycle of concerts that we started with renowned bands and orchestras from all over the world. Spain, also in recognition of the great quarry of professional musicians from Llíria who nurture these groups”.

Municipal Band of Castelló

On the other hand, the UNESCO Creative City of Music will also host another concert next week, this time featuring the Castelló Municipal Band accompanied by the Llíria Unió Musical Symphonic Band. The performance will take place on Saturday, July 9 at 7:00 p.m. at the Teatro de la Unió.

This event will be a posthumous tribute to maestro Juan Garcés Queralt, who died in 2014, who was director of the two groups and received the title of Adoptive Son of Llíria.

4) MAUSOLEOS ROMANOS

Ciudad romana. S. I – II d.C. declarado BIC
