Llíria is filled up with music on the occasion of the 2nd edition of IOCC “Llíria City of Music”

The Llíria City Council has prepared a special series of concerts during the week of the competition

The music will sound in a special way in Llíria between July 17th and 22nd. The city council has prepared a musical programme for the celebration of the second edition of the International Orchestra Conducting Competition “Llíria City of Music”. It is a series of parallel concerts with which the consistory seeks to become the centre of the national and international musical sphere for a week.

“Our commitment to IOCC has made us want to reinforce the celebration of the competition with a top-level musical programme that makes the cultural agenda more attractive for the contestants and, also, for the general public,” explains the Councillor for Culture, Mª José Llopis. “It is the perfect complement to this top-level event and in a bid to involve our neighbours.”

The concert schedule begins with a performance by the Centro de Perfeccionamiento del Palau de les Arts, which will offer a concert on July 19th, starting at 22:30, in the auditorium of the Conservatorio de Llíria. Rosa Dávila (soprano), Mariana Sofía (mezzo-soprano), Alejandro Sánchez (baritone) and Carlos Reynoso (baritone) will perform, accompanied on piano by Ignacio Aparisi with a repertoire of well-known excerpts from opera and zarzuela. They will perform arias and duets from Le nozze di Figaro or Così fan tutte, by Mozart; La revoltosa, by Ruperto Chapí; or El niño judío, by Pablo Luna, among others.

A day later, a chamber ensemble from the string section of the Orquesta de la Comunitat Valenciana, one of the best on the national scene, will perform. The repertoire is made up of pieces by Respighi, Skorik, Sarasate, Grieg and Albéniz. It will be on July 20th, at 22:30, at the Conservatorio de Llíria.

The extraordinary musical programme will end with the Youth Bands Festival ‘Ciutat de Llíria’ 2023, which will take place on July 21st, at 19:30, at the Teatro Unió Musical. The Banda Juvenil Unió Musical de Llíria will perform, directed by Esteban Espinosa; and the Banda Juvenil Primitiva de Llíria, under the baton of Chano Silvestre.

4) MAUSOLEOS ROMANOS

Ciudad romana. S. I – II d.C. declarado BIC
